What is Micro-needling?

Micro needling is an aesthetic treatment to enhance the skin’s texture, tone and color. The ReJuvapen creates micro-injuries to enhance the repair process for the production of collagen. It is typically done with HA (Hyaluronic Acid), manufactured growth factors, or a patients own growth factors using PRP. Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) is a concentration of platelets in the blood to help in wound healing by expediting the process.

How Micro-Needling Is Performed?

​Numbing cream is first applied to minimize discomfort. If using PRP, you will have your blood drawn and spun in the centrifuge. Once the face is numb and the PRP concentration is ready, our experienced technician will then begin to slide the device along the skin while penetrating the skin to the depth up to 2 mm. In response to the stimulus, the skin will thicken and become inflamed as it begins to reduce scars and fine lines while the enhancement of collagen production.

Who Is Micro-Needling For?

Micro-Needling is safe, affordable, and effective for most skin types. Although, there are still situations where it would be best not to perform a micro-needling treatment. Such examples include when a patient has any cut or abrasion of the skin, is pregnant or breastfeeding, has experienced poor wound healing, has received radiation treatment within the last year, or has used a steroid within the previous three months.

How Many Micro-Needling Treatments Are Required?

In order to receive the best outcome it is typically recommended to have 2-4 treatments, spaced 6-8 weeks apart. Depending how severe the pigmentation, scarring, or marks are it could take up to 6-8 treatments for maximum rejuvenation.

What To Expect After A Micro-Needling Treatment

The process is completely natural and the skin heals safely. The tiny pricked channels close within one hour, leaving possibility of infection extremely unlikely. Post procedure the patient will experience mild swelling and redness for the following 24-48 hours. There is a chance there will be some bruising and/or pin-point bleeding. There will be a glow effect right after treatment but it will not show the greatest results until about 30 days later and may take up to 3 months. Micro-needling is beneficial for anyone who is able to receive a series of treatments. Micro-Needling is a healthy way to improve skin texture and tone, decrease the visibility of any scarring or stretch marks, and give your skin an overall glow.
